We have found that data quality equals money. Since the introduction of Payment by Results (PbR) and the generation of contract data sets being critical to payment by Primary Care Trusts poor quality and incomplete data can have a significant impact on revenues by reducing them either temporarily whilst data is corrected and resubmitted or permanently. We have seen examples where this can amount to between 2 and 6% of a Foundation Trust’s income on a monthly basis - the imperative is to act quickly to address the issue.

The UK health market is one that is increasingly attractive to prospective suppliers – there are a multitude of projections for technology growth and application in health from surgical robots to mobile health.

As Trusts are wrestling with the mantra of doing ‘more for less’ one of the areas for review is internal ICT services.HealthSystems has a comprehensive approach conducted by experienced professionals which enables us to come to the right conclusions for your organisation.

Across the world, health services are increasingly using Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to deliver improved financial and operational results, more sustainable processes, better clinical outcomes and cost reductions. This work benefits patients, staff and organisations: in the UK principally the NHS. For some hospitals and health services, Lean Six Sigma provides an underlying methodology for corporate transformation and the creation of a capacity for continuous quality improvement.

The 18 week referral to treatment (RTT) is a Department of Health target whereby NHS Trusts must begin to treat all patients within 18 weeks of referral. The thinking behind 18 weeks is to change the way the health service work to deliver treatment by reforming and improving the entire patient journey and therefore improving on the patient’s experience of the NHS.

Data and information is important to your organisation whether a Trust or a PCT.  Volumes of data to be stored, grow over time and storage infrastructures need to be able to cater for this growth over the years. Within the NHS, new capital investment is more tightly controlled than ever. As the volume of data rises exponentially, so the standards to be observed become more demanding. Is this the time for a thorough review?
