Paul is an experienced project manager with additional teaching and research
practice in project management, health informatics and information
strategy development and implementation. Overall he has more than
20 years' experience of working, teaching and research in the IT
/ health informatics arena. This includes 11 years in
NHS management and information services posts up to and including
Acute Hospital Trust Director level, 8 years as University
Programme Manager for an MSc Health Information Management and
4 years in self-employed project consultancy / project support
in the NHS. An essential feature of his work includes facilitating
the development of information strategies and, if required, follow-through
to project manage implementation of the strategy. He has occupied
roles in general (operational) management, information technology,
project management, academic programme management and consultancy
all within the healthcare / health informatics arena. Projects
undertaken whilst employed in the NHS include procurement, implementation
and operational management of large and small-scale hospital/Trust
-wide systems. More recently his work has become more varied with
projects undertaken for a range of clients such as The Department
of Health (NHS), The World Health Organisation, The NHS Information
Authority and a range of NHS Acute Hospital Trusts and Primary
Care Trusts.
