Richard
has spent his life in healthcare. He was one
of the youngest consultants when appointed as an ENT surgeon
in St Bartholomew's Hospital (Bart's) and, in addition to his
practice was one of the earlier NHS clinical directors. He
had an extensive private practice in London and included many
well-known
names among his patients.
He has long had an interest in using information to best effect
and brings to HealthSystems a profound understanding of the clinical
processes in both the NHS and the private sector, as well as knowledge
of how the processes could be improved if information was delivered
better.
His work as a clinical director in the early days of NHS Trusts
gave him a good view of the management issues involved in providing
care to add to his clinical skills. As a mentor to many junior
doctors he gained insight into their information needs and aspirations.
Richard is exceptionally well-qualified to help bridge the information
gap that sometimes exists between senior clinicians and management.
