Having read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford,
Dominick Henry qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1972
and spent the bulk of his professional life in BP. His responsibilities
there ranged from running the company’s pension fund
property portfolio, to being CEO of BP Turkey and included
assignments in the Chemicals, Nutrition and Trading divisions
as well as
in the central accounting function. He also led a small team
reporting directly to the Deputy Chairman conducting a wide-ranging
review of the role and control of central costs. Since leaving
BP, he has managed the corporate finance function of a Plc,
but has worked largely as an independent consultant in a wide
range of businesses. His particular interests are in the way
in which businesses manage transition, whether it be a straightforward
issue of growth, the cession of control by a founding shareholder,
a change in business strategy driven by the marketplace or,
for instance, change driven by the impact of IT on the healthcare
industry. He has served as a Director of one of his clients
and helped that client gain admission to OFEX. As well as his
accountancy qualification, Dominick was sent by BP on the Program
for Management Development at the Harvard Business School.
